My Perfect Winter Evening

Winter is well and truly upon us in case you were in any doubt with the lack of sun, the long nights and the cold that latches itself onto your skin, that no amount of tea or blankets can get rid of.

As the days get shorter and the nights get longer, I always find this time of year to be the perfect time for staying in of an evening (though lockdown 2.0 has pretty much cemented this idea).

Here’s what makes the perfect winter evening for me.

I love to start my winter evening in with a nice warm shower (hair mask and face masks are optional) which would then be followed by some nice, silk pyjamas, fluffy socks and wrapping myself up in a blanket. Of course I also have to turn my fairy lights on and light some wintery-scented candles.

Once the ambience has been set, I normally make myself a hot chocolate (I have a hot chocolate advent calendar this year which means I get a different flavoured hot chocolate every day!)

I’ll then settle down to watch a Christmas movie – my favourites are Home Alone, The Grinch, Love Actually and A Christmas Carol.

What winter evening would be complete without a Christmassy book (or two, or three)? I like to read until my eyes get droopy and the pillow beckons me to sleep. I always find reading the best thing to do before bed as it calms me and puts my mind in a good place, ready to relax and drift off.

What does your perfect winter evening in look like?

Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks for reading!

Love, Zoë xx
