My Favourite Podcasts

Hi everyone,

I love a podcast. Especially when I’m going out for my walk in the morning. I wanted to write down a list of my favourite podcasts so hopefully you guys can get some good recommendations either if you’re a podcast-lover and looking for something new, or you’re looking to start to get into listening to podcasts.

Let me know in the comments if you have any other podcast recommendations for me!

Happy Place by Fearne Cotton

I’ve read both of Fearne Cotton’s books; Happy and Calm. This podcast carries on from her Happy book where she shares her top tips for happiness, how to get through those blue days and finding joy in the simple things. She has great guests on there who are equally inspiring and informative, and Fearne has a great gift of talking to people and making her guests feel comfortable.

This is one of my favourite podcasts to listen to when I’m out walking and there’s so many episodes to choose from! Each podcast (about 20 minutes long) focuses on one notable person in history. It goes through their early life, what may have inspired them from their chidlhood, up until their death. Each episode is informative and the facts are delivered simply and straightforward. I often found that when learning about history, particularly when there’s lots of different people involved and different dates floating about, it can be quite difficult to focus but this podcast is very engaging.

The Empire Film Podcast

If you love films, like me, you’ll love this podcast. Each episode features film news and updates, as well as interviews with directors and actors. The hosts are very knowledgeable and I always find myself getting so many recommendations for films and TV to watch whilst listening to this podcast.

Grounded with Louis Theroux

This is a podcast that Louis started during lockdown where he interviews various guests. So far he’s interviewed some amazing people like Helena Bonham Carter, Boy George, Lenny Henry, Miriam Margolyes, and Chris O’ Dowd. I’ll basically watch/listen to anything that Louis Theroux does and this podcast is no exception!

Desert Island Discs

If you don’t know what Desert Island Discs is, it’s basically different celebrities (and normal guests too!) who choose eight songs, a book, and a luxury item to take with them on a desert island. The idea is that each guests will choose songs that soundtrack their lives. I used to listen to this via the BBC website but it’s great that I now found it on Spotify podcasts. I definitely get lots of great music recommendations listening to this too!

Everyday Postivity

This one is pretty self-explanatory but each episode is about 2 minutes long and features some words to start your day on the right foot. I like to listen to these in the morning and on my walks.

What are your favourite podcasts?

Thanks for reading!

Love, Zoë xx
