August Book Haul

Hi everyone,

I’d say the statement “I’ve treated myself this month” is a bit of an understatement.

I’ve bought some BEAUTIFUL books that I can’t wait to read!

Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

I’m not sure if I’ve ever actually read this beefore – I know that I love the film and I couldn’t resist this adorable version!

White Fang by Jack London

I hate to admit that I judged a book by its cover, but this book has wolves on and need I say more…

Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson and The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss

I couldn’t resist these beautiful Bath Treasury of Children’s Classics – they are soooo affordable as well! You can buy them from The Works.

The Woman in Black by Susan Hill

I loved reading The Travelling Bag and Other Ghost Stories by Susan Hill earlier this month (more on that coming later in my August wrap-up…) and I’ve watched both the film and theatre production of The Woman in Black. I thought it was only right that I read the book now. Have you read any of Susan Hill’s works? What do you recommend that I read?

Edgar Allan Poe: Collected Works

Choosing the most beautiful book I bought this month would be like choosing a favourite child, but this is a very strong contender. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a gorgeous book – it has gold sprayed edges and a beautiful silk book ribbon.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos

I’m always looking to expand my reading so to read a French classic instead of a Victorian or Georgian classic will be really interesting!

St. Clare’s Collection by Enid Blyton and The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis

Two childhood classics and book series that are going to take me and my imagination right back to the places I used to escape to as a child.

What books have you bought this month? Let me know in the comments below! I’m always looking for some bookish inspiration (not that I ever need persuading to purchase more books…)

Love Zoë xx

  1. Those editions of The Chronicles of Narnia are so great!

Some of the books I picked up this month include Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman,
The Salt Path by Raynor Winn, and American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I picked up more, but those are the ones I am most excited to get to still, a lot of the others I picked up I read already.
