The Christmas Tag

Hi everyone!

Christmas is my favourite time of year so it doesn’t feel right for me to not write a blog post on all my Christmas faves and traditions!

I’m not really following one specific tag. Instead I’m just going to collate a lot of the same questions used in Christmas tags and answer them all in this one post!

I’d love to hear your answers to these questions too, so feel free to play along!

#1 What is your favourite Christmas movie/s

It’s pretty difficult for me to choose just one movie as there’s so many Christmas movies I love (Love Actually, The Muppet’s Christmas Carol, The Grinch, Elf…). I’d have to say my favourite Christmas film is Home Alone. As soon as I hear the opening theme tune, it just takes me back to my childhood Christmases. I used to love watching this film with my brother when we were younger when we would quote it non-stop (not much has changed here, as we still walk around the house saying “keep the change, ya filthy animal” and (my personal favourite) “Buzz, your girlfriend…woof”).

#2 Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas morning! I’ve never been allowed to open Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. I open my presents from my parents and “Santa” in the morning and then, as my other family members arrive, I open presents from them as well!

#3 Have you ever had a White Christmas?

I don’t think so! Even though I live in cold and rainy England. It’s always been one of my biggest dreams that I’ll wake up on Christmas morning and the ground will be covered in snow. Here’s hoping for a white Christmas this year! Though no doubt that would mean everything coming to a standstill as it normally does in England when there’s snow…

#4 Favourite festive food?

I’m the weird person that looks forward to eating Brussel sprouts on Christmas. Apart from Brussel’s, I absolutely love stuffing with my Christmas dinner and then mince pies for pudding!

#5 What is your favourite Christmas song?

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Frank Sinatra. I love it but can’t listen to it too much because it makes me emotional (in a good way) haha

#6 Favourite Christmas scent?

I love the smell of gingerbread cooking! I’ve never been that great at making them; they always seem to turn into little blobs, but they still smell amazing!

#7 What tops your tree?

It’s always been a star! I don’t think we’ve ever had an angel on top of the tree. But I’ve kind of been thinking that, when I get my own place, I’ll probably choose to have an angel on my tree instead!

#8 Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

When I was younger, every Christmas Eve we’d go and watch the pantomime in my town. We haven’t done that for years as I’m older now so we normally spend Christmas Eve prepping for the big day tomorrow, watching Christmas films and drinking vino.

#9 As a kid, what was the one gift you always asked for but never received?

I would always ask for a puppy even though I knew I was never going to get one! I’ve kind of given up asking every year but I’m still dreaming of one day having my own puppy who I can snuggle with on the sofa after the mammoth Christmas meal!

#10 Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

If you would have asked me that question 10 years ago, I would have said receiving gifts! Now I’m older, I definitely prefer giving gifts. I love seeing the smiles/shock/happiness on people’s faces when they open presents I’ve bought them; it makes me feel really good about myself and I love to give back at Christmastime.

Thank you for reading my Christmas Tag!

I probably won’t be posting any more blog posts until after Christmas now as I really want to make the most of the time I have off university and spend it with all my family and loved ones.

Hope you all have a very merry Christmas!

Zoe xx
